Best friends are friends forever. That's what we think and feel about our good friends. But then, all life long, we keep searching for better friends too! One who has no friends, or has a lost friend, feels left out in the society and wants her/his old friends reunited with her/him. It is our circle of friends which seems adding spice to an otherwise dull and morose life that we lead. Secret friends play a more important role in imparting such a thrill to the mechanical rut of our daily routine, even more so if they are sex friends too! We want to make our own island of our trusted confidants who we can confide in! We are not open people. We cannot confide in all. We are closed. We are not compassionate. We keep our secret pockets hidden from others' eyes since we feel they will misuse them if they came to know of those. We distrust them. We find them enemy more than friends.
But the burden of carrying secrets alone proves too taxing for our psyche. So we spot our likes and enter into an unwritten agreement with them: You scratch my back, and I will scratch yours! Now we can share our burden of secrets with them without any risk or danger of it getting divulged among all.
But if we could divulge it to one, why couldn't we divulge it to all? Why do we think their reactions would be different from the ones whom we call friends; or, so to say, best friends? After all we all are sailing in the same boat in the ocean! Only that we do not know that! We do not know that everyone is naked under the clothes one is wearing! And if we muster the courage to put off ours, the other, too, will follow suit. One turns a compassionate wo/man then. And a compassionate wo/man finds friends in all, rather the best friends, to say! So s/he doesn't need any friends at all. All on earth are her/his best friends without declaring them so! Such a compassionate wo/man carries a great charm along wherever on earth s/he goes, without turning this charm of hers/his into a relationship along!
