Business Ethics
Business ethics make business worth doing it; and life, worth living it! Whatever we do on earth, we do have to deal with many businesses in our life - whether directly or indirectly. We simply cannot avoid the effects of business around us on the quality of life we live. It is immaterial whether we are doing the business or someone else - it is only that if business is being done, it certainly will affect you either as a businessman or as a consumer!
Business means:
Now, the business ethics take care that the amount of money one gets paid should be equivalent to the value added to the thing. Neither less, nor more! Better Business Bureau takes care to see business ethics hold good. But who doesn't want to turn richer? OK, then do more value-addition! No, that's not so easy! It takes time. But I want to turn, overnight, rich!
O my God, why do I want to turn rich at all? Who doesn't? And who cares for the business ethics? That's the way we have been taught to live! ...And be successful! For us living has become a synonym of being successful. Success means success in career or in business essentially. I must earn the maximum I can.  By hook or by crook! Let business ethics go to the bin. Let my business cards sing my praises. My business intelligence tells me how I can fool you so as to charge you more than the value-addition that I have done to what I am selling to you. I must earn the maximum I can. But that will never let me be free. Who cares?
Who cares for business ethics or for any ethics for that matter? And thus we stop caring for whatsoever-around including our relationships with one another. We turn uncaring persons. This turns us into insensitive people that we are. I don't mind becoming rich at your cost. I don't even want you to enter my business. I will play all kinds of dirty games to stop you from that. Let you go to hell but I must get my seat booked in the heaven that my business opportunity promises to provide me with.
And let me squeeze as much profit out of your pocket as I can. I give a fig to all business ethics that I was made to learn in my textbooks - even the authors knew they never worked! In the name of business, we try to cheat one another. Every dog has his day - sometimes I win, sometimes you! But in the long run, every single one of us comes out to be a loser only! What wins is the corrupt system that our greed (ambition!) has given birth to; and which has gone so powerful by now that we have been reduced to be mere puppets in its inhumane hands. Business ethics are just kept at bay. We all turn losers! But our business development was never designed to take us back on the path of destruction!
Then what this happened, and how, and when? When I said you let me win! If one wins, the other must lose. S/he will do her/his every effort not to, by stopping me from winning. Ultimately, in the long run, we all are bound to go losers. A win-win situation is a hoax - a lose-lose one is a fact that we are bearing with in our business world as well as in our world business.  People are coming up with new business ideas. Every new business plan whether from some family business or from various business schools makes a new business news and requires its new business management.  Writing a business plan has become a full-fledged business in itself! Small business is trying to graduate to the membership of the big business club. But it does need getting listed in a business directory in order to be the talk of the business week for that! On the other side, a whole new breed of e-in business professionals is in the making. These new ventures are partially sprouting as home based business, or in short home business and partially as branches of big business.
These home business ideas are thriving on new business articles and new business quotes made publicly available through the advent of the Internet only. Business is showing some signs of going democratic, after all! May be it is able to end the corrupt monopolistic practices of big business houses and make business more transparent throughout the world.
May be, the good old business ethics get a new lease of life! But will that be possible till success and money are the basic themes of life? Do you feel things should change in life, on earth?
