Visa restrictions hurt business travel:
September 26, 2007 by Volodymyr Mashchenko
As a relatively young industry in Ukraine, business-travel is currently at a turning point: it’s becoming a more specialized industry with business-travel providers offering clients a much wider range of services. In the past travel agencies were mostly limited to receiving commissions from suppliers.
However, severe visa regimes for Ukrainians wanting to travel abroad and the uncertain fate of international air ticketing practices that recently came into conflict with Ukrainian legislation constitute serious obstacles to the faster development of the business-travel industry in Ukraine.
Travel Blog Comment:
It's not only in Ukraine that visa restrictions are hurting business travel, but in all the third world countries across the globe.
Last month I got a Business invitation from Ireland - my sponsor already having bought my return ticket, and I immediately applied for a visa to the Embassy Of Ireland in India.
After a long 15 days they simply sent me a visa rejection message. It hampered my business opportunity seriously, although I somehow made it by calling my clients to India immediately and completing the job here.
But think for a moment, how easy it is for them (the Irish) to get a visa and do their business without any governmental hassles in between!
