Career Change

(MS) - When seeking career advice, young people are often told, "Find something you love to do, and make a career out of it." While that's a novel concept, it might not be the most realistic or valuable advice a person can receive. In fact, lots of people realize their ideal field isn't necessarily what they thought it would be, part of the reason the average person changes jobs five to seven times in a lifetime.

Depending on the job market, deciding if you really should change careers can be difficult. Regardless of the job market, a general rule of thumb is not to leave one job without another lined up, or at least without enough financial security to handle what may or may not be a period of extended unemployment.

Career News Blog Comment:

Change is the law of nature. So if it comes to career change at any stage in life, it's no big deal. One must jump into it if one has started feeling like that.

Life is one. One can either live it by one's fears of safety and security, or one can live by one's heart.

One might have made a mistake of choosing a wrong career for her/him.

Or else one might have changed with time so that s/he no more fits in her/his old career mould.

Whatever, one does need changing one's career in either situation.

But then they say, a rolling stone gathers no moss.

So the stone has to decide whether it is gathering moss that is more important in life or it is flowing along with the flow of gushing water traveling far away lands in the journey of life that makes more sense into it.
