TRAINING AND CAREER INFORMATION SERVICE GOES MOBILE:

October 11, 2007

Career Information

The Bligh Government has gone on the road to deliver training and career-information to Queenslanders living in rural areas of the south-west of the state.

The first mobile Skilling Solutions Queensland customer service centre was officially launched by Education and Training Minister Rod Welford at Parliament House today.

"The van provides exactly the same service as the existing 16 customer service centres at fixed locations throughout the state," Mr Welford said.

"The difference is that we're taking the service out to communities where it's needed and where it can be easily accessed by people who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to use the service."

"The van is fitted out with the latest computer and wireless Internet technology and staffed with trained consultants."

The van will be based in Toowoomba, but will travel to communities on the Darling Downs and other parts of the south-west.

Skilling Solutions Queensland is an innovative service that provides tailored information about training and career opportunities.

Since its creation in March 2005, the service has helped nearly 24,000 customers with employment and training enquiries, including nearly 19,000 face-to-face interviews.

Career News Blog Comment:

Mobile career information is a brilliant idea as far as tapping the right kind of human resources is concerned.

In fact, everything that we need is very much available on earth but the world has gone so scattered that we are not able to spot the right thing or the right person at the right moment for the right placement where s/he could be of real use to the business and/or humanity.

We can extend the same approach to picking talent for any and every sphere of human activity, e.g., sports, science, arts and many more.

Only this way we can assure that the right human resources are able to fill the right channels pertaining to their passion and aptitude.

Otherwise what happens is that the right kinds of people are lost in the chaotic crowd that we have created in our world around us!
