Once upon a time you couldn't go anywhere, it seemed, without meeting someone who was "trying to get to the next level, nah'mean?" in entertainment. They have some self-titled company and half-listen to you while tapping away on a two-way. (Remember those?! Would you not die if you saw someone using one now?) They are mysterious and alluring, because you know where you'll be at 10:47 a.m. on a Tuesday, yet you picture these people sunning in the park, or lunching somewhere fabulous and doing a business deal. (They might be in their PJs, slumped over a computer, nearly starving, but that's another story.) Anyway, a number of hangers-on, poseurs, hacks and kids whose parents have gobs of money and don't make them work find have found admittedly creative ways to name their occasional forays into working. They deserve some kudos for making the hipster world go round. Here are my four personal favorites:
Right? Honorable mentions: video girls; video directors; DJs; and anyone who says "at the studio" so everyone can hear. Entertainment News Blog Comment:
Entertainment has obviously turned into a big industry providing instant entertainment jobs, and for that matter, it is an industry asking for instant gratification. You pay for entertainment, you must get entertained right then and there. Instant gratification is the key word in the contemporary Internet environment. Now what is the depth of the experience is of no concern at all. The feet must tap, even if the heart beats not! They offer all kinds of things we can get involved in. THEY ALL SERVE YOUR SENSES. It could be a pitcher of beer served in a cozy corner of a pub, or a hectic dance in a loud music disco, or a thrilling ride in a fun-rides park, or a full body massage at a body massage center, or simply an action movie in the comfort of a multiplex around somewhere. These were your senses only that were getting bored being unable to get involved in what you were doing, and what the entertainment centers do is that they provide you with something sensational catching your attention in an easy way.
