Freedom of Religion

Freedom from Religion

Freedom of Religion

Religions on earth!

Freedom of religion reminds me of freedom from religion.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation is an American free thought organization based in Madison, Wisconsin.

Its purposes, as stated in its bylaws, are to promote the constitutional principle
of separation of church and state, and to educate the public on matters relating to atheism.

Freedom of Religion Act, also known as The Religious Freedom Restoration Act is a 1993 United States federal law aimed at preventing laws which substantially burden a person's free exercise of their religion.

Now, here we need defining what 'religion' in reality is!

Okay, what is religion?

Isn't religion a target for my devotion?

My devotion to an ideal!

Generally a supernatural one!

All things natural seem and feel to us too mundane to be having real substance in them.

So we develop a supernatural idea, make it our ideal, and then get devoted to it.

We do need our freedom of religion for doing that.

And this is what the definition of religion is.

What religion am I?

I was born to a Sikh parentage.

Does that make me a Sikh?

Or do I have my freedom of religion?

They took me to their place of worship when I was 3 years old - I remember.

I - that little kid - didn't like the whole experience over there, and hence refused to accompany them next time when they asked for it again.

They wouldn't take it so easily!

"You do need going there, or else God is going to punish you", they played their card.

Fear of getting punished overwhelmed me.

I imagined being punished for not doing what I was not feeling like doing.

And then I made up my mind.

"I am ready to be punished" - I declared my decision.

"He has turned agnostic" - my father asserted and then they went their way.

This was my entry into what I am today too, i.e., no religion.

Does that also fall under the freedom of religion?

I am losing my religion!

What religion are you?

Christian, Mohammedan, Buddhist, Hindu, or Jewish?

Check for yourself here - what religion are you quiz.

Do you have your freedom of religion?

You can also check a more general religion quiz.

Do we all have a freedom of religion on earth?

Why is religion growing?

Religion explains the unknown, or at least that is what it claims.

Herein lies the importance of religion.

We somehow have this feeling that we do not know what all this complex game of life and existence is, although we have been thrown into it to partake.

We feel lost.

But we do need acting impeccably or else we are really lost!

We are walking on edge.

The kid still alive inside us fears, cries and craves for some permanent support that would save it from falling into the unknown.

GOD KNOWS ALL.

Which God?

The religion symbols decide that.

We might be having our freedom of religion, but I doubt if we have our freedom from religion also!

There are many types of religion and all these different types of religion have different symbols of God.

Yeah, we do have our freedom of religion.

Building a religion just takes a new symbol to be created, be it the new age religion or any other new religion for that matter.

Sociology of religion is the sociology of people's faith in these symbols only.

New symbols create new theories of religion.

This gives rise to a new philosophy of religion.

And that is how the history of religion developed.

A religion map shows the population of religions geographically on a map.

Various religion maps of different parts of the world are available as well as world religion map along with world religion statistic is.

What is a true religion?

Every religion claims to be that!

In fact, that is why there have been so many religion wars on earth, which even today are going on in the name of international terrorism.

It's a case of bad religion poisoning our lives.

Don't we have the freedom of religion to do all that on earth?

Effects of religion are great on human life. There are so many spheres of human action, which either affect religion as such, or else they themselves get affected by religion favorably or otherwise; like:

  • religion in schools

  • religion vs science - My friend Adair Butchins dispassionately lays out the discrepancies between our ancient faiths and scientific cosmology in The Numinous Legacy.

  • humor and religion

  • religion in public schools

  • religion and education

  • science and religion

  • difference of spirituality and religion

  • teaching religion in public schools

  • religion and spirituality

  • internet affecting religion

  • money as religion

  • spirituality without religion

  • abortion and religion

  • food and religion

  • Freud and Jung on religion

Why isn't there a single world religion on earth - a fundamental religion that every single human puts her/his faith in?

No, the concept of freedom of religion will get hurt.

But then why should there be any single religion too, on earth?

Why don't I simply say that love is my religion?

But then again, why should I need calling love a religion too?

In fact, why do I need anything like devotion in my life?

That is what the biggest question is!

It connects to the health of human psyche as well as to the health of human society.

And why does human society need anything like religion for its healthy and happy existence?

Do you feel things should change in life, on earth?

If yes, why sit passive?

Let's be in the active vanguard.

Let's try to change the world!

Even trying is its own fun in itself!
