A blood-spattered room resembled a "slaughter chamber" after a Sardinian knifed his wife's lover to death, a court heard today. "There was blood all over the place," 53-year-old Susan Matta told Exeter Crown Court. Her husband, 56-year-old Francesco Matta, has pleaded not guilty to murdering 54-year-old RAF officer Stephen Keen on July 6, 2006. The killing happened when postal worker Matta travelled from Cagliari, Sardinia to Tidcombe Walk, Tiverton, Devon, where his wife had eight days earlier moved in with married Mr Keen. Mr Keen bled to death from four neck wounds inflicted by Matta with a four-inch bladed lock knife. Prosecutor Martin Meeke, QC, has told the jury that Mrs Matta - who married the defendant in 2003 - got back together with Mr Keen via the Friends Reunited website 30 years after their teenage romance ended. Mrs Matta twice travelled from the home she shared with the defendant in Sardinia to the UK to meet Mr Keen, finally telling her husband she could not be his wife anymore. Matta, said the prosecutor, planned and carried out the "cold-blooded killing" in revenge. Friends Blog Comment:
Friends reunited to get killed, one of them! What if they hadn't reunited? Keen wouldn't have been killed. OK, now suppose we go back in time when Keen was alive and tell them about each other the way they were told by the website. But this time we also tell them about the future course of events that would be followed in case they reunited. Will they still... reunite? What will you do? Will you... reunite? It's a great question that I am asking to the concept of friendship, as it is between us humans in our life! And take care to be totally honest when answering the same!!
