Thrills and Chills at Great-Adventure:
October 7, 2007 by Allison Freeman
Halloween may be a few weeks away, but Six Flags Great Adventure has kicked off its 16th annual Fright Fest this weekend with rides, shows and attractions offering "thrills by day, chills by night."
New this year is the Get Ready to Wiggle Halloween Show, at which boys and girls can enjoy spooky fun during the day with friends Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus and Captain Feathersword in the park's Wiggles World section.
Get up close and learn about some scary creatures, including rats, bats and tarantulas, at Professor Slither's Creepy Critters show at the main gate. Families also can join Bugs Bunny, Tweety Bird and Daffy Duck to compete in the Looney Tunes Talent Show at Bugs Bunny National Park.
Other family-oriented events include a Halloween-theme dolphin show, a tiger show and a spooky spells magic show.
After 6 p.m., the ghouls come out. Those who enjoy being scared can walk through the new Demented Forest Terror Trail, full of ghosts, trolls and goblins, or the Calvacade of the Odd, which features freaks.
There is a procession of the living dead, a woman from the Amazon who transforms herself into a gorilla and the Arena of Doom, featuring death-defying stunts and circus acts.
