Health Food Store Resurrected as Organic Co-op:

Health News: Organic Food Information
Health-food junkies will soon have a new place to pick up their groceries. It's an organic store they can both buy from and buy into.
"Right now we go all over town," Bri Beyer says.
One-stop shopping is not part of Beyer's vocabulary. She buys organic foods, and right now there is no place where she can get everything she needs.
"I'd love to say only organic. It's just not enough available to say only organic at this point," she says.
But come spring, that's going to change. Doctor Patrick Flynn and several others in the community are opening a totally organic grocery store.
The building is nearly ready thanks to its previous tenant, Naked Foods, which was a natural health food store.
It used to be a private, for-profit store and it closed for one reason -- cost. Flynn says he hopes to change that the second time by turning it into a non-profit co-op.
A co-op is a community-owned business. People pay a membership then enjoy the benefits of lower costs.
"In order to run the store, profitability can be less," Flynn said, "because the money goes right down into the company, and that can drive the cost down."
Another driving force is local farmers. Tsyunhehkwa Farms in Oneida is all-organic. It will be one of several farms supplying the new store with produce, meat, and poultry.
"The more people that are aware of it, the better the general health of the community is going to be," Frank Haney of Tsyunhehkwa Farms says. "So we're definitely behind that, becuase that's what we're all about."
"It's all about priorities, and if health is important to you -- and what's more important than health and your family," Beyer says.
