'Bleeding Love' reclaims top singles spot:

April 17, 2008

Bleeding Love
NEW YORK, April 17 (UPI) -- Leona Lewis's "Bleeding Love" returned to the top spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart of singles, overtaking Mariah Carey's "Touch My Body."

With her debut album "Spirit" atop the Billboard 200 album chart, Lewis is the first British-born artist to claim both top spots simultaneously since Phil Collins in 1990, and the first female British singer since Olivia Newton-John in 1974, Billboard reported Thursday.

Lil Wayne's "Lollipop," featuring Static Major, moved to No. 2 spot from No. 4, Billboard reported. Season Six "American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks' "No Air," featuring Chris Brown, jumped from No. 7 to No. 3.

Usher's "Love in This Club," featuring Young Jeezy, inched up from No. 4 to No. 5, while Carey's "Touch My Body" tumbled from last week's No. 1 slot to No. 5.

Ray J & Yung Berg's "Sexy Can I" held the No. 6 slot, while Madonna's "4 Minutes," featuring Justin Timberlake, dipped to No. 7 from No. 3.

The last three singles in Billboard's Top 10 didn't change: Chris Brown's "With You" in No. 8, Sara Bareilles' "Love Song" at No. 9 and Flo Rida's "Low," featuring T-Pain, rounding out the top slots at No. 10.

Love Blog: Bleeding Love

What makes a piece of art an instant hit?

Is it quality?

Or is it marketing?

But we have seen a lot many hits contradicting all this!

Bleeding Love is a pop ballad written by Ryan Tedder and Jesse McCartney and produced by Tedder for Leona Lewis's debut album, Spirit, on which it is the opening track.

The song is the album's first single released in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland in October 2007.

The single was released digitally in December 2007 in the United States, and worldwide between December 2007 and March 2008.

It became the best selling single of 2007 in the UK, and has so far reached number one in the singles and airplay charts in over twenty-eight countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States.

So what makes a piece of art an instant hit?

Is it quality?

Or is it marketing?

Or is it a sheer stroke of luck (better, chance!)?

In fact, love is the biggest hit on earth since we, every single moment, keep suppressing it in our hearts; and hence Bleeding Love was bound (!) to be a hit.
