Deciding how to define success for the Leach Amphitheater will be among the key issues this year when the search begins for a new promoter and manager for the city-owned Leach Amphitheater.

Green Bay-based promoters PMI announced in November that 2008 would be its final season after months of consideration on the heels of a third disappointing season in 2007, which ended with a reported loss of $25,477 on a lineup that included the Black Crowes and Nashville Star,.

Oshkosh Parks Director Tom Stephany said a workshop to discuss various aspects about the future of Leach – which may include finding a PMI successor – is scheduled for March 18. He said the discussions could also look at what the Council and community can expect from future use of the facility, but declined to discuss possible directions in any detail.

"People want to use (Leach) for more civic events and public events, and I would suggest that happen," PMI President Ken Wachter said. "I think it's a very nice venue, it's just picking the right acts at the right time and paying the right price."

Meaning of Success
Leach Amphitheater at Night

Meaning of success is always defined in terms of money that the subject - in this case, the poor Leach Amphitheater - earns, and thus stands on its OWN feet!

How can a poor entity be called successful even if it does a lot more (as the photographs are clearly showing) than any rich entity can?

If being rich is the real meaning of success, why don't we simply call it richness and why do we need coining another word like success for glamorizing it?

Unfortunately the managers of the poor Leach Amphitheater will be forced to use it for more civic and public events than the ones it was originally designed and built for.

What is success as a concept, if not the corruption of the human mind?
