Fables of modern society:

August 14, 2007 by Verl E. Stockton

Modern Society

Aesop had his fables. So does our culture. It was recently reported to me that the leader of a world religion has stated that the only path to eternal salvation is through his church, his authority being derived from apostolic succession back to one of the Biblical apostles. Also, he stated that any other Christian religion is defective and outcast.

OK, what are the facts? The apostolic succession is more a hit- and- miss situation, sometimes not existing, sometimes two persons claiming the headship, sometimes the successors marry, sometimes fathering children when they're not. And the apostles. Contrary to tradition and revisionist history, they never left Judea and Samaria! The Christian churches today have Paul to thank as their originating father.

Another fable is one must do something, must work to obtain salvation in any Christian church. The Bible clearly states that salvation is through faith plus nothing. Those involved in a "works" religion are, according again to the Bible, accursed! I am absolutely convinced there are many more people thinking they're heaven-bound than are actually going there. If you're in a garage, you're not a car; if you're in a church building, you're not necessarily a Christian.

Another fable is evolution. The complexity of the human body, its intricate organs, the molecular structure of any of its cells precludes any notion that any possible time period's random mutation could create such seemingly unfathomable masterpieces. Do you realize there are 74 trillion cells in our bodies. Evolution within genera-yes; evolution to create new genera-poppycock!

Another fable is the existence of UFOs. Unless scientists can find some motion faster than the speed of light and eliminate the strange Einsteinian side effects as an object approaches that speed, any alien visitors would have to be thousands of years old.

Society News Blog Comment: Society values are only a utopian makeup worn on the ugly face of our modern society that is anything else but a humane society in its essence.

The problem is that the problems in today's society are growing by leaps and bounds and there is no respite from it.
