Feudalist political culture gave birth to terrorism: Altaf Hussain:
November 4, 2007
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain said on Sunday that the feudalist political-culture had given birth to religious extremism and terrorism in Pakistan.
“The Supreme Court (SC) also fell victim to the feudal mentality,” he said in his telephonic address from London to the Graduate Forum at KDA Officers’ Club.
Hussain, however, criticised the SC for taking suo motu notices on issues of its choice, while ignoring the attack on Dr Farooq Sattar of the MQM. He also criticised the Jamaat-e-Islami and other opposition parties who welcomed the chief justice on March 9 but disrespected him when a bench of the apex court gave a verdict against their viewpoint.
The MQM chief said there are many areas in Pakistan that are deprived of essential facilities. He said there are areas in Pakistan where girls cannot go to schools.

He claimed that the MQM is accused of attacking media freedom when it protests negative journalism, adding that some anchorpersons and analysts hate the MQM. “On May 12, our women and children were attacked but they dubbed us terrorists. Is that freedom of media?” he asked.
He said suicide attacks were on the rise across Pakistan, adding that the blasts occurred after the reformers are liquidated. “I do respect the religious forces who act upon the Islamic tenets in letter and spirit but I reject those who preach the ideology of hate,” he added. He said monarchs and mullahs had misused Islam throughout the religion’s history, excluding the first four caliphates.
He said anyone who controlled the media and had military backing could propagate their perception of reality. He cited the Iraq war, saying the country had been invaded to capture weapons of mass destruction, but the US think tanks had now said that the war was for oil. He claimed the MQM similarly faced terrorism charges because of its opponent’s control of the media.

Where does the political culture of a nation come from?
Isn't it the value system of its people vis-à-vis life as such that gives birth to its fascist or anti-democratic political set up?
Doesn't it also come from the religious belief system of its masses?
It also comes from the vested economic interests of the privileged few who use religion as a weapon to fulfill their crooked economic designs.
Unless the nexus between the money and the religion is severed, the political scenario isn't going to change even a bit.
And the nexus will remain till money is alive.
In fact, we need the death of the system called money on this planet, and give birth to a better, more advanced system for managing human life.
Politics will die its own death then, as will do the nexus between the two!
