Fallen Marine fulfilled his dreams, proud family says:
July 25th 2007 by RICHARD WEIR
To his friends, Christopher Scherer was known as "The Law."
He earned the nickname when childhood friends saw family photos of the future Marine corporal wearing a police uniform when he was 3.
"He had on a little badge, a little police vest, a gun, handcuffs, and they said, 'That's the sheriff. That's The Law,'" Tim Scherer, 48, recalled of his 21-year-old son, Christopher, a member of the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion who was killed in combat Saturday in Iraq.

When his friends were dropping out of the Boy Scouts while teens at Northport High School on Long Island, Christopher Scherer stayed on, like his older brother, Tim Jr., to become an Eagle Scout despite the ribbing he took from his pals, who thought scouting was no longer cool.
"The Eagle Scouts are really the elite of the Boy Scouts. And the Marines, in terms of honor and loyalty, are really the elite of the military," said the younger Tim, 22.
Christopher Scherer, who enlisted in the Marine Corps at age 17 while a senior in high school, did it not out of a sense of obligation but because it was who he was.

"He had defined who he wanted to be and the Marine Corps was it. I think it's because it signified the best of the best," his father said in the living room of his East Northport home, outside of which a U.S. flag flew at half-staff.
Even though he died a month after turning 21, his family has come to terms with his sacrifice because it was something he believed so passionately about.
"How many people can say that they have done that in their life? To me it's a success story because he set out for his goal and, at a young age, he fulfilled that," the father said, fighting back tears. "I love my son."

Paris Hilton's proud family:
20th July 2007
Paris Hilton says her family are very proud of her.
The 26-year-old socialite - who recently completed a prison sentence for driving with a suspended licence - boasts she has already built up an impressive entertainment and fashion empire and her parents couldn't be prouder.
She told Entertainment Tonight: "I have been working very hard. I'm 26-years-old now and started Paris Hilton Entertainment and my clothing line.
"My grandpa, my dad, my mom, everyone is so proud of me, so it feels really good to accomplish so much so young and to be an entrepreneur at 26."

Paris - who famously starred in a homemade sex video leaked on the internet - says designing clothes was her childhood dream and she has many "exciting" plans for her line.
She said: "It's exciting - this has been a dream of mine ever since I was a little girl - I'm fashion designing. I do jeans, I do sportswear, we're going to do shoes, purses and I also have my own doggie line coming out."
The 'Simple Life' star also revealed she is working on a new fragrance and a book.
Paris - who was dropped by Warner Bros. following poor sales of her self-titled album released last summer - is also returning to the recording studio to work on her second album.
Family Blog Comment: A proud family is proud of its members because they have given it a good name.
We are more bothered about the family name than about the family member.
Had s/he not given this good name to the family, the family would never have been proud of her/him.
Our family love is not unconditional.
Don't we love the family (?) more than we love its people?
Don't we love our country more than we love its citizens?
Don't we love 'love' more than we love the lover?
