The stuff romance movies are made of:

THEY say life imitates art just as much as art imitates life and in the world of romance, this is definitely true. Every year Hollywood churns out dozens of movies from the genre called 'romantic comedy' and believe it or not, some of these movies can provide you with a wealth of information not just about trying to sweep a woman off her feet (as all these movies seem to require men to do to live happily ever after with women, but anyway) but also to prepare men for the battlefield known as the relationship.
And with that in mind I'm putting out a list of required watching (just call me Professor Javier) to give you gentlemen a head start. And although you may have seen some of these movies already, it never hurts to go back over them, you might just learn something new.

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
Sure, I wont deny it, the title of this movie sucks. And any self-respecting man will find it difficult to watch a movie with a title like this. But for me watching this movie was like being in dating 101, in fact I wished it had come out 10 years ago when I was just a single adolescent. In the movie a reporter decides to write an article about the many (and boy are there many) ways in which women drive men away. From being too needy, to calling all the time, to interrupting when we want 'me' time, to saying I love you after a first date, all of these and more get explored in this movie. You start this movie a novice and it leaves you a sage. As a matter of fact if I have sons I'm going to make sure they see this movie at a real early age.

Hitch
Hitch isn't really high up on my list of romantic comedies worth watching but it definitely teaches a useful lesson, namely planning ahead. Hitch (Will Smith's character) taught all his clients to try to get into the target woman's head and appeal to her with things she likes, or at least use them to meet her half way. And as simple as that premise sounds there are many guys who don't get it. They rush in, and being the overconfident boobs they are, they end up trying to force themselves onto the women after being rejected then wonder what happened (just think of Johnny Bravo).

Forces of Nature
This movie is great because it teaches us that falling in love with someone is easy but staying committed is hard. In a nutshell the movie stars Ben Affleck and Sandra Bullock. Ben Affleck's character is engaged and about to be married when he goes on a trip out of town. While on the trip he meets Sandra Bullock's character and the two end up going through all sorts of escapades together, which cause them to get close and suggests that they are going to fall in love, but they don't.
Affleck's character chooses to stay with his wife and things still work out for the best. I watched this movie when I was younger and it totally changed my outlook of romance; it taught me romance doesn't appear out of thin air no matter how much chemistry you have. You have to want to stay in love with someone to actually stay in love with them, even if it means forcing it sometimes.

What Women Want
With a title like this, this movie has to be good, right? Wrong. This movie - which starred Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt - didn't help me much except for one scene where Gibson's character was checking out Hunt's character when she wasn't looking and he read her mind (because Gibson's character could read women's minds in the movie) and heard her say "Why do I feel like he's checking me out"? The moral gentlemen, is that women can tell when you're ogling them, I've proved it for myself time and time again. And if you don't want to come across like a stalker or a plain old pervert then you might want to practice more discreet checking-out methods.

Romance Blog: Pure Romance
Romance movies render a voice to our wildest and the most primitive kinds of dreams. But unluckily the voice is often heard at a comic note!
A perennial and perpetual romance has the power to transport us from the pettiness and shallowness of mundane routine to the depths and heights of love on earth and love in the skies.
The only care to be taken is that it doesn't dilute itself by falling prey to lovemaking and ending the suspense of it for good.
Let romance remain pure only, and not a step to sex.
The moment it goes for that, it immediately starts dying its death by going on diluting itself slowly and gradually.
Let pure romance be kept alive.
