The Hooksett police said that a series of arrests over the weekend at a park-and-ride off Hackett Hill Road is part of a larger effort to clean up an area that has become a haven for anonymous public sex.
The police arrested five men. Robert Blais, 55, of Manchester and Earl Corey, 55, of Warner were charged with criminal trespass, indecent exposure and disorderly conduct on Friday, after officers found them engaging in oral sex near the parking lot, according to Detective Sgt. Nick Pinardi. A third man, Michael White, 44, of Canterbury, was found watching them and was charged with criminal trespass, the police said.
William Vickory, 60, of Pembroke and Stephen Savoy, 43, of Manchester were arrested later in the weekend and charged with criminal trespass. According to Pinardi, the police witnessed one of the men pulling his pants up when they approached the two men in the woods near the lot.
Pinardi said that the park-and-ride has been the subject of complaints for several years - he said he's known about the woods beside the lot as a site for public sex for more than 10 years. The police stepped up their patrols after complaints escalated and the police began noticing a profusion of litter near the lot, he said.
"There's been complaints, but we've never really gone and cracked down on it," Pinardi said. "But it's getting to the point now where there's trash everywhere."
The lot is listed as a good location on a "cruising" website designed to help men find male sexual partners. The listing describes the primary users as "truckers" and says that the spot is frequented all day long but is particularly good in the early morning. Postings on the site, made by men seeking other men for sex, date back to 2006.
Pinardi said officers have seen the most recent traffic during weekends and in the early evenings during the week. The arrest Friday was made during the day.
"The cars are just pulling in, pulling in, pulling in, and no one is using it as a park-and-ride," Pinardi said. "They just pull in, wait for another car to come in and then go for a walk in the woods."
The Concord police cracked down on similar activity at Terrill Park off Manchester Street in Concord last year. The park, which was also lauded on gay "cruising" sites, had become littered with condom wrappers and lubricant containers, and the police said that many city residents felt uncomfortable spending time there. Officers made several arrests, cleared brush around more secluded spots and enforced a curfew to discourage sexual activity.
The men arrested in Hooksett were all released on personal recognizance bail and are scheduled for arraignments May 21. Blais and Corey did not return phone messages left yesterday. White, Vickory and Savoy did not have listed phone numbers.
The Hooksett police said they will continue aggressive patrols of the area through the summer months.

Sex Blog: Public Sex
Public sex is a taboo in our society.
Sex blog questions it. Why is it so?
Isn't it that we hate this act when someone else is doing it whereas we love the same when we ourselves do?
Sex blog again questions. Why this dichotomy?
More so, smooching in public on roads in India is an unlawful act whereas the same thing in the streets of Paris is a common scene.
So, where do we draw the line as to what falls under the category that we call public sex?
Also there is a naturalist movement going on in America and its followers have said NO to wearing clothes.
Now, if they touch each other, will that be called public sex?
Why have we given sex such a special place in our life that it has started ruling our sense of morality?
Can't we take it in a more natural and casually honest way of expressing ourselves through our body interactions with our loved ones?
I think life will go more honest if we do.
