Successful Single Parenting:

Single Parenting

So, you’re a single mother/father. Take heart: You are not alone.

It is ever more common for a parent—father or mother—to end up facing the challenges of life without a mate but with children. In the United States, single-parent households more than tripled between 1990 and 2002. Now, almost 3 in 10 American children under age 18 live with only one parent. Fully 10 million women lead their households alone; 2.3 million men face the same challenge. The trend is similar in other Western nations.

Raising a family is a tough job even for two parents. Being a single mother/father—acting as both dad and mom—is daunting and demanding. Yours is not an easy task.

Be assured. You can do it—and do it successfully!

Parenting Blog Comment:

Single parenting coupled with tribal parenting had been the basic design of nature for humans.

And this single one was always the mother only.

In the primitive social structure, no one ever knew who the father was.

Hence the children were taken care by the mother as well as by the whole tribe collectively.

Then came the institution of marriage for the sole reason of being able to ascertain who the father of a kid was.

For the first time in the history of human civilization, a new relationship was carved with the name of father to it.

If and when marriage as an institution comes to an end, which it is showing the signs of, mother will again turn to be the natural single parent, this time not in conjunction with the tribe but with community that is going to replace family as such!
