Two killed in sports car crash near Columbus:
November 6, 2007
1998 Porsche Boxster
COLUMBUS — The Montana Highway Patrol is investigating the deaths of two men in a one-car crash south of Columbus.
The rollover happened on East Shane Creek Road off Highway 78. The men’s identities were being withheld pending noti-faction of families.
The 1998 Porsche Boxster left the road, went through a fence and vaulted into the air before crashing into the ground and ejecting the occupants. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Neither was wearing a seat belt, and a Highway Patrol dispatcher says alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash.
It was unclear when the crash happened, but it was reported Monday.
Sports News Blog Comment:
OK, they say alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash, but then why did the car vault into the air before crashing into the ground and ejecting the occupants? Simply because it was a sports car! They must be running it at a thrilling speed.
And a sports-car is designed to go to much higher speeds than the normal ones.
Had it been a normal car, the accident would never have been that bad killing the occupants right then and there.
If we have the liberty of increasing speed in our hands, we do tend to overdo it.
Speed thrills but kills.
But my question is why after all speed thrills us so much. Why do we fancy sports-cars so much?
Simply because our life is awfully slow and boring!
So what will be a better alternative - making life speedier or making cars?
