Lee: Newcastle legend
Glenn McCrory is lacing up his football boots in a bid to give his young boxers the trip of a lifetime.
The former cruiserweight world champion has organised a charity football match between his All-Star XI and a Newcastle United Legends XI, featuring the likes of Rob Lee, John Beresford, Paul Bracewell and Steve Howey.
The game will take place at Newcastle Falcons ground on Sunday, August 3, with the proceeds going towards funding a trip to San Francisco for the members of McCrory's Northumbria ABC.
He is taking a team of amateur fighters out to San Francisco where they will take on a team managed by 2004 Olympic gold medalist, light-heavyweight Andre Ward.
McCrory's youngsters come from the Newbiggin Hall area of Newcastle and the man himself hopes they will benefit from their Stateside experience as much as he did when he travelled to New York as a youngster - where he ended up sparring with Mike Tyson.

Sports News: Sky Sports Launch
Sky Sports is a big brand name in the field of commercial sports. There are quite a few sports-oriented television channels that make it what it is today.
In the United Kingdom and Ireland, its major channels earn through subscriptions of the sports enthusiasts.
It has been going on dominantly commercializing the British sport scene since 1990.
It also played a major role in breaking away of the Premier League from the Football League in 1992.
Now, the most interesting thing about this charity match being organized is that anyone can play in it just by bidding with money on it.
The highest bidders will be able to play in the team of their choice.
The charity money from the bids and the ticket sale is going to go to the Glenn McCrory Foundation.
Isn't it something like a joke that is being cracked on the face of serious sport in the hands of commercialization of sports by whosoever are involved in all this so-called charity stuff.
When money plays the game, the game goes business.
The money plays its role... who knows what's the goal!
