Student teacher relationship lesson stressed in training:

To prepare future teachers for the classroom, college professors lecture on more than reading, writing and arithmetics.
Among the topics: ethical boundaries.
Given headline-grabbing cases in which teachers are accused of having sex with students, university instructors say it's necessary to stress that separation must exist between teachers and those they teach.
"We don't necessarily make it blatant and say: 'Don't have sex with your students,' " said Jay Hertzog, dean of the College of Education at Slippery Rock University. "It's more of an ethical issue. You are the teacher, they are the student. It's a bridge you cannot cross."
A preliminary hearing for Beth Ann Chester of Scott, the most recent Western Pennsylvania teacher accused of sexual misconduct with a student, was postponed Tuesday until Jan. 26. She will undergo an evaluation at Allegheny County Jail's behavior clinic.
Chester, 26, resigned from her job Dec. 27 as health and physical education teacher at Moon Area High School . She remains jailed under $50,000 bond, on 14 counts including statutory sexual assault. Police say she has confessed to having sex with a 14-year-old student several times and to sending nude photos and suggestive text messages to his cell phone.

Student Teacher Relationship
Student teacher relationship is certainly objectionable if it is there between a major and a minor.
But what about it, taking place between a major and another?
What does it mean being a major?
Doesn't it mean that you are matured enough to take the decisions of your life with a responsible independence on your own of your own?
In that case if an adult student decides to have sexual relations with her/his teacher, what is so wrong with it?
Will it disturb the equation of learning and teaching between the two?
I don't think it will, since such an equation depends not on their relationships but on the curiosity level of the personalities that both of them have.
Real strange people are we! We are not bothered about all the psychologically distorted sex between lesbians and gays, and are even making legislations for them to get officially married for that matter; but when it comes to straight sex between two consenting majors, our morality gets hurt!
Are we sane?
