Success Stories In Assisting Those In Debts:

July 17, 2007

KOTA KINABALU, (Bernama) -- Leman (not his real name), 47, has always been both a caring father and a loving husband.

With a meagre monthly income of RM1,000, the general clerk ensured his family had all the basic necessities. They lived happily within their means.

It so happened, his wife of 10 years, Hamidah (not her real name) was suddenly diagnosed with acute kidney dysfunction, diabetes and hypertension. This caught the family by surprise and their once simple lives were now shattered.

With very limited financial resources, Leman now had to find a way to seek treatment for his wife.

But medical care is not cheap. Leman had to find a way to obtain money and credit card was the easiest choice.

TEST OF FAITH

As Hamidah's ailment progressed, Leman became more desperate and took personal loans amounting to RM31,000 to finance his wife's medical and traditional treatment. By the grace of god, help arrived after almost a year, the authorities agreed to provide free treatment for Hamidah.

However, it was a bit too late for Leman to save himself from heavy debts and the financial institutions had threatened legal action.

Leman then decided to turn to the Credit Counselling And Debt Management Agency (AKPK) for help.

After evaluating the dilemma faced by Leman, AKPK agreed to stretch the repayment of the outstanding amount up to eight years on all the credit cards.

YAP IN THE SAME PREDICAMENT

Meanwhile, Yap (not his real name), 35, on the other hand lost his brother when he died suddenly due to heart failure. Yap's nightmare began almost immediately as he was the guarantor to a housing loan signed by his late brother. Now he is liable to pay monthly instalments amounting to RM1,800.

Unfortunately, Yap was in no financial position to pay such amount as he had his own family to care for and his own debts to think about.

Almost immediately the property was auctioned by the bank and due to the shortfall arriving from the sale, Yap incurred a new debt of RM120,000.

Due to the stress, he started examining his own financial situation and discovered that unknowingly he was succumbing to the `debt trap'.

His credit card debts escalated to RM16,000, while his personal loans peaked at RM 18,000. Aside from that, Yap also had a housing loan of RM200,000.

With so much debts and a monthly income of RM3,000, Yap sought AKPK's help to stay afloat.

AKPK SAVES THE DAY

Thanks to AKPK's assistance, Yap is saved from bankruptcy through prudent financial advice from the agency.

These cases are only a few of the success stories contributed by AKPK. Many of the individuals or households trapped in debts are now back to their normal lives, away from the threat of creditors and bankruptcy.

Success Blog Comment: They always say - hard work is the key to success; but then they only say - nothing succeeds like success.

And the two are contradictory to each other!

In fact, the whole philosophy of success is a hoax in itself.

It doesn't have any roots in the ground.

The very concept of success is but a castle in the air!

No one knows the road to success or how to dress for success, but everyone seems to have her/his own concept of how to reach the destination.

Then there are success-gurus who tell us all the success stories teaching us how to dress for success by sometime 3 Ways to Success, sometime 7, and sometime 10 Ways to Success.
