A symbiotic relationship - The Radical Right
and the Neo-Liberalist State:

October 29, 2007 by John Horvath

Symbiotic Relationship

It's no longer raining in Budapest, and although the clouds of commotion which hung over the anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution earlier this week should have dissipated along with the official end to the ceremonies, they still hang heavy over the capital. Indeed, Friday saw a new round of disturbances as groups of protesters blockaded traffic on two major bridges in the capital as well as on a major street. The action lasted for a good part of the day as demonstrators played a cat and mouse game with police. In the end, more were arrested than during the disturbances earlier in the week.

There is little that Hungary's neo-liberalists and the radical right have in common with each other. The only exception is that they both feed off one another. It's the realization of this by the neo-liberalist state, and the subsequent manipulation of events in which the radical right is allowed (some may even say they are tacitly encouraged) to cause trouble at public events which has led to the present state of affairs.

Symbiotic Relationship

This past week was a case in point. In Hungary the neo-liberalist state is on the verge of collapse on many fronts - economically, politically, and even morally. The government, led by a coalition of Socialists and Liberals, two supposed left-wing parties which have been the biggest supporters of unadulterated capitalism in its most perverse form (hence the notion of a "new liberalism", one that uses socialist rhetoric to mask capitalist exploitation), have come under pressure from all sides including loyal supporters and party members.

Relationship Blog Comment:

A symbiotic relationship is bound to be a love-hate relationship.

It turns love when there comes a challenge from their real opposition.

Again when challenge subsides, hate raises its head out in the open.

But the both know they cannot survive without each other.

Isn't all relationship on earth a symbiotic one only, whether in politics or in life?

I do feel it is!
