EMBATTLED Queensland tour operators have their sights set on the lucrative international wedding market, with plans to entice more foreigners to say "I do" in the Sunshine State.
In one of the more ambitious plans, Queensland will take centre stage at IoSposa, which is Italy's biggest wedding and bridal show, held in late October.
State Tourism Minister Desley Boyle said: "The honeymoon segment out of Italy and France is extremely important for Queensland.
"Tourism Queensland's Europe office said that, anecdotally, between 80 per cent and 90 per cent of their business to Australia is for honeymoon travel."
The plans will focus on Europe, Japan, China, Korea and India, with international magazine spreads, music videos and reality "matchmaker" shows all part of Tourism Queensland's plan to make the world fall in love with the state.

Travel Blog: Honeymoon in The Himalayas
I remember my courtship with my girl friend that is my wife now. I was staying in Delhi those days. As she came to visit me once in a while from her town nearby, what we did was just stand on the road and board any local bus without having the faintest idea as to where it was heading.
As the conductor asked for the ticket - "where to?" - we said, "where the bus last takes us to!"
The conductor smiled as if remembering his past romances and then handed us the ticket to the last stop where the bus route ended. He was learning our new definition of travel!
The bus dropped us and we would roam around in the vicinity while eating, drinking and talking to the people around.
Then again would we stand on the road along and board another bus going to we didn't know where!
And again another destination!
And again another travel!
And again another destination!
And so on till we did not fall tired.
It used to be a real great date!
With a real spirit of travel in it!
Eventually I married her later and we went for our honeymoon travel to the Himalayas exactly the same way as we did during our courtship, this time only at a bigger level for many days at our disposal.
Can we humans fill our honeymoon travels with a spirit of adventure into them matching a real adventurous married life to be lived after it?
