All true religion rejects hatred, Pope repeats:
October 22, 2007
Naples, Oct. 22, 2007 (CWNews.com) - Pope Benedict XVI (bio - news) repeated his insistence that religion must never be used to incite hatred or violence, during a day-long trip to Naples to participate in the 21st International Meeting for Peace.
The Naples meeting, organized by the St. Egidio community, was the annual renewal of the inter-faith assembly for peace inaugurated by Pope John Paul II (bio - news), which first met in Assisi in October 1986. Although then-Cardinal Ratzinger had expressed reservations about the Assisi meeting, Pope Benedict welcomed the 2007 renewal. He told the different religious leaders gathered there that they represented “different Pope in his address, "in a certain sense expresses the different worlds and religious heritages of humanity, to which the Catholic Church looks with sincere respect and cordial attention."
Religion News Blog Comment:
If all true religion rejects hatred and violence, who on earth gives the calls for crusades and jihads, and issues fatawas against those who disagree?
Does the religion have the guts to expel those who do?
Only then can Pope claim the innocence of all religion on earth!
