Religion-News Blog: What-Is-Religion News What is religion, anyway?: October 10, 2007 by Jaimemarvin  I was reading some other blogs about Christianity and being a Christian, and being uncomprimising and all of that good stuff, and the writer of the blog was talking about being uncomprimising at a music store FYI (although, I'm pretty sure the store is REALLY called FYE- for your entertainment) and I'm thinking- as far as I know, Jesus calls His followers to leave their belongings, their friends, and their family and follow Him- not to o look for gospel music at one of the most expensive record stores around. This is, in no way, an attack on this person. This is just my thoughts on God- well, no, on His followers. They are hyppocrites. Although, I'm sure they would be happier if I said "We." It's true- we are hypocrites. Here I sit, on a laptop (although it's not mine, I cannot afford one which makes me proud) in my comfortable bed (again, not really mine) in a house with AC in the summer, heat in the winter, food in the fridge- while there are men boozing and passing out, sleeping under awnings, not knowing what it's like to bed seen, unable to use a bathroom just two blocks from my house. As far as I know we are called to spend ourselves not on behalf of our happiness and comfortability- but on behalf of the poor, the broken, the dying. Mother Theresa had it right when she chose to live herr life picking the dead up out of the gutters, and either helping them to live, or enabling them to die a person and not a piece of trash. I guess what I'm saying is- sure wee can whine about the government taking God away, but I think we pushed Him away when we chose to be the same as those of the world- when I look the same as the uncomprimising pagan, I've lost God. When we chose to be silent and stop speaking out for those who were voiceless, we said we no longer wanted God around. Religion News Blog Comment: What is religion if not a pair of crutches to support all our scientific/unscientific beliefs without which we aren't able to live, exactly like a little kid getting scared without parents around?
