World Travel A Must For Brits:

August 22, 2007 by Gerry Visco

Getting away from it all is a top priority for most Britons, new research from Bradford and Bingley has revealed.

However, Holidaying abroad is a missed opportunity for many people, the study revealed, with 53 per cent of respondents over 35 wishing that they had Travelled more.

Over a fifth of the group of unsettled globetrotters - which included professionals, retirees and grandparents - revealed that they'd love to live and work overseas.

Though six per cent of people were found to regret not taking a gap year, the insurer stressed that it's "never too late to don your backpack", mentioning that a third of grown-up gappers are over 50.

Paul Whitlock, Head of Savings at Bradford and Bingley, added that being prudent could help you realise your unfulfilled travel dreams.

"By saving regularly or making the most of their finances by seeking professional advice there is no reason why people can't set up their own business, travel more or be prepared for that once in a lifetime opportunity that may arise," he commented.

Pizarro: Chef enjoys big taste of world travel:

August 29, 2007 by Sal Pizarro

Relaxation must be an unfamiliar word to Emile Mooser, who sold his namesake restaurant in downtown San Jose early this year.

Mooser dropped me a line Tuesday morning from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, where he's "traveling alone and light with a large backpack."

He's spent a week in China, visiting Beijing and Xi'an, and is heading next to Angkor, Cambodia, then by boat to Phnom Penh - and then to the Philippines.

He'll be back in Silicon Valley on Sept. 10 to teach a couple of souffle classes before heading off to Switzerland with his youngest son, Michel.

"I never realized that getting out of the kitchen could be so much fun," Mooser wrote. "I am having a ball."

Things are still cooking at Emile's, by the way, with new owner Alexandra Dorian serving dinner at the South Second Street eatery Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Travel Blog Comment:

"Leave your birthplace

And roam around the world

Refusing either to be a slave

Or a slaveholder!"

Fixed itinerary package tours miserably lack the spirit of travel as well as go against the definition of travel in their hour to hour certainty of plan.

That is why the great travelers on earth always went for the entire world travel without keeping any fixed itinerary in front of their eyes or even in their mind.
